This error appears to occur only on Sony VAIO computers with Windows Vista installed. Please perform the following steps to get around this error message:

  1. Start the installation and wait until the error message appears.
  2. After the error appears, launch Windows Explorer.
  3. Go to the Organize menu and select the "Folder and Search Options".
  4. On the new window that appears, click on the View tab.
  5. Enable the "Show hidden files and folders". The protected operating system files need to be viewable for the remaining steps.
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. Double-click on the C:\ drive.
  8. Double-click on the Program Data folder.
  9. Click on and drag the Documents & Settings shortcut to your Desktop.
  10. Continue with the installation as normal.
  11. Once the installation completes, drag the Documents & Settings shortcut from your Desktop back into the Program Data folder.
