There are several possible reasons for why this may occurs. Below are a couple of the more common solutions that we have found.

We recommend that the first thing you do is update the printer drivers. Even if you just recently purchased the printer, we still recommend you check with the printer manufacturer’s website, as there may be an update to the drivers. Typically, these are found in either a Driver or Support section on the manufacturer’s website. You want to download and install the drivers with the steps provided on the manufacturer’s website.

If updating your printer drivers does not resolve the issue, then we would suggest that you uninstall and reinstall your printer. We recommend that you check the printer manual for specifics on how to do this. These steps work for many of the printers:

  1. Close out all programs.
  2. Power off the printer.
  3. Disconnect the printer cable connected to the computer.
  4. Go to the Start button on your Desktop.
  5. Go to the Control Panel option. For older versions of Windows, you may need to go to the Setting menu to locate the Control Panel option.
  6. Double-click the Printers and Faxes option.
  7. Right-click the printer that is having the issue.
  8. Select the Delete option from the pop-up menu.
  9. When prompted for confirmation on the deletion, click the Yes button.
  10. Close out all windows.
  11. Connect the printer cable back to the computer.
  12. Power the printer back on.

At this point, the computer should attempt to reinstall the printer automatically. It may require the CD that came with your printer that has the printer drivers. Once the printer is reinstalled, try printing again.
